Kareri Lake Trek is located in Himachal Pradesh, in the district of Kangra and is situated at a height of 2934 metres above sea level and spreads at a distance of 9 kilometres to the North-West of Dharamshala.
This trek is not much of a hassled one as it is said to be an easy to moderate trekking zone for many trekkers but it is tough if you are trekking in the higher altitudes so make sure you are physically active to trek the rocky mountain routes and steep ascends at Kareri Lake Trek.
Kareri Lake is famous for being a shallow water body, which is located at a higher altitude and offers a place to be a gripping zone to trek at. You can observe the lake bed from the water surface as this lake is free from any form of pollution and holds crystal clear water which is mainly the melted snow. It is considered to be an easy to moderate trekking spot with difficulties on your way as you trek at the higher altitudes. It is always advisable to trek from May to June and from September to October. You can experience a good trek with little snowfall if you are going from September to October.
Kareri Lake Trek Itinerary:
You will be starting your overnight journey from Delhi by Volvo bus towards Mcleodganj.
As you will be reaching Mcleodganj on the second day in the daytime you will be resting at Mcleodganj.
Start your trekking journey from Kareri Village where you will be dazzled by the mesmerizing density of the dark forests and other small villages. You will be staying at Kareri for the day.
Start your journey early from Kareri Village to Lioti. It is actually a four to five hours journey. Lioti is famous for its Alpine grasslands and here at Lioti, you will be putting up for the night at Lioti Base Camp.
Get up early to trek at Minkiani Pass and this is the place where you will be meeting your destination; Kareri Lake.
You will trek back from Kareri Lake towards Kareri Village and later disperse marking the end of your trekking journey at Kareri Lake.
You will be leaving for Delhi from Kareri Village.
The beautiful and mesmerizing lush greenery subtropical forests contain various kinds of pines such as Chir pines and Chilgoza Pines with other species of flora present in the area. The harmonious divinity between flora and fauna at Kareri Lake can be detected as you go out for a trekking journey at Kareri Lake.
Due to the lesser canopies, you can spot a variety of migratory birds at the Kareri Lake trek. The moderate trekking mountain area will trail you through the rocky mountain pathways towards vast meadows and dense forests; rocky grasslands and the most visited spot Nyund Nallah.
The meadows are mainly used as lands for pastures by the locals. Also known as the pasturelands of Gujjars and Gaddis. After all, this zone is used majorly by the Gaddis and Gujjars for their pastures. The Gujjars and Gaddis use the meadows around Kareri Lake as a purpose for their daily habitat.
